2 women assaulted in Va. area

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- Officials are looking for suspects in connection to two incidents in Loudoun County where the women victims were assaulted.

Deputies responded to a call for a woman found injured in Sterling on Saturday to learn that she was the victim of a robbery.

According to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office authorities, a 62-year-old woman was attacked shortly after 5:35 a.m. in the 1200 block of E. Severn Way. She reported that she was approached by a man who attempted to grab her purse. They struggled before the man hit her with a blunt object she described as a handgun. She received minor injuries, say authorities.

The man was able to flee with the purse.

The suspect was described as a male, 5'8" to 5'10" tall, and was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses. The suspect had the hood pulled up over his head to conceal his face.

On the same day, around 9:30 p.m. Police responded to Reston Hospital. A 52-year-old woman from Ashburn was going to a friend's house around 5:00 a.m. when a man knocked on her car window. The suspect opened her door, showed a gun, demanded money and then told her to get out of her car and take off her pants. He then sexually assaulted the victim and fled after he saw the victim's friend was coming, police said.

In this case, Police describe the suspect as a Black male, approximately 6' tall, and in his late 20's. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood up to help conceal his face, police said.
