MONTGOMERY CO., Md., (WUSA) -- Weren't able to cash in on the federal government's clunkers program, but still considering buying a new car?

Well before you do, you might want to check out the free public forum sponsored by the Montgomery County Advisory Committee on Consumer Protection and the county's Office of Consumer Protection.

The event takes place Thursday, September 10 rom 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Sport Chevrolet, 3101 Automobile Boulevard in Silver Spring.

The forum, Car Purchasing and Ownership In a Changing Economy, will cover car buying tips, federal and state legislation, bankruptcies and dealership closings, excise tax deduction, financing options and lemon law protections.
