WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Whether it's heating or cooling, we could all use some help to lower our utility bills.
Some simple changes can save you up to 30% on your energy bill.
Consumersavvytips.org suggests you switch to CFL bulbs. You'll pay slightly more for the bulbs up front, but the bulbs last 10 times longer than conventional bulbs.
Install motion sensors to turn off your lights when you leave a room.
Don't pre-rinse your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher. Scrape off the food then turn it on.
And, use a programmable thermostat to save on energy. Or, limit your air use during peak, most expensive hours.
