WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- If your look needs a lift, head the drug store. Our Living Smart team can help you stretch your beauty budget.

Better than a handbag or new outfit, a new item in the beauty bag can do wonders.

"It can change your look for a fraction of the price," says style guru Jenn Falik.

Jenn says all you need to know is where to look. We met up at the CVS store in Georgetown.

"This middle aisle is where you're gonna find the newest, the hottest, the latest and best values in beauty, " says Falik.

But you don't have to compromise on quality. High end brands are on the store shelves.

Jenn says drug stores are bringing in brands like Vichy from Europe. They are moderately priced with all full spectrum of specialized skin care options.

And, Jenn says don't pay more than $10 for cleanser.

"There's no reason to pay alot for cleanser you wash it right off."

Cetaphil is a perennial favorite. And, mineral makeup is also a must have for many with sensitive skin.

Jenn tells us about the 24/7 kit at CVS that retails for less than $40 and comes with brushes.

You'll find another great value in Wet and Wild products. Their highly favored 6-6-6 lipliner costs just $1 and is long lasting.

Brushes don't have to cost you much either. They just need to pass the touch test.

When you get your new items home, if they don't work... you can always take it back.

If you're wondering what to splurge on, here are Jenn's three top things.

Eye Shadow Palettes. Invest in a good department store brand that will take you far.

Lash extending mascara. Find one you like, and stick with it.

And, Ultrabalm can take you from your lips to your hips. A good one will keep you hydrated.
