WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Diapers, baby wipes, teething biscuits, just some of the essential necessities packed inside a diaper bag.
However, some of those products may contain harmful chemicals or ingredients. But there are some natural alternatives you can put in your bundle of joy's bag.
Whole Foods Vanessa Ruth shows how you can make over your baby's diaper bag.
Vanessa says replace diapers that have chlorine, artificial scents with latex-free, dye-free diapers. They costs between $13.29 and $15.49 depending on the size.
Instead of conventional formula which may contain artificial additives, colors and flavors buy organic, age-appropriate formula. She adds, "breast milk is best for both baby and mom."
Put the baby formula in glass or polyethylene #1, #2 and #4 and polypropylene #5 plastic bottles. Bottles made with bisphenol-A (BPA), polycarbonate plastic and phthalates have been banned from store shelves. Avoid them.
Feed baby organic, whole grain cereal. Some conventional baby cereals contain artificial additives, colors and flavors.
When baby begins to teeth avoid the ones that have artificial additives, colors and flavors. Let them teeth on organic, whole grain teething biscuits.
Also, opt for jarred, frozen or homemade organic, nutrient-rich foods instead of brands filled with artificial additives, colors and flavors, honey, fish with high mercury content, common allergens and junk food.
And if your little one feels a little under the weather, use homeopathic remedies.
Good information to help mom and baby move toward a healthier lifestyle.
