CPSC recalls more than 300,000 dehumidifiers for fire hazard

BETHESDA, Md., (WUSA) --The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling 350,000 Gree dehumidifiers because they can overheat, smoke and catch fire.

They are gray plastic with the General Electric (GE) brand name. The Gree dehumidifiers come in 30, 40,50 and 65 pint sizes.

The CPSC has received five reports of fires that resulted in more than $400,000 in property damage.

So, if you have a Gree dehumidifier in your home, unplug it and contact Gree toll free at 866-853-2802 Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm ET and Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm ET.
