Will the Washington Capitals still be Stanley Cup contenders when the 2017-18 season rolls around?

Will the Washington Capitals still be Stanley Cup contenders when the 2017-18 season rolls around?

If the forward group remains mostly intact, the answer is probably yes.

Only two of the team's top 9 forwards are unrestricted free agents, and although the potential losses in T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams would be huge, the majority of a group that has dominated play for the past three seasons is slated to return.
