A dream will become a reality soon for Markelle Fultz.

The top pick overall in the 2017 NBA draft, and a DeMatha grad, will make his NBA debut Wednesday for the Philadelphia 76ers.

What will make this moment even sweeter for the 19-year old, he will make his debut against the hometown Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena, just 30 minutes from where he played his high school ball.

The specialness of making his debut in his hometown is not lost on the 76ers rookie,

"To have your first game be at home, and have your home crowd in front of you... being from where you're born, it's exciting," says Fultz. "I'm going to have a lot of family out, so I'm excited.

The DC, Maryland, and Virginia area has produced a lot of top level NBA talent in the past, and the DeMatha product knows it's his turn to carry the torch.

"Everything you see in my game, all came from this area," says Fultz. "This is a basketball state, there's a lot of great players that came out of this area. I gotta represent the DMV. So everytime I go out there and play, I'm going to go out there and give it my all."

The 76ers rookie has already garnered high praise from his teammates.

"He's a great kid," says Ben Simmons, who will also be making his NBA debut. "He's a hard worker, and that's the type of player you want to be a part of the team."

The Wizards will host Markelle Fultz and the 76ers Wednesday night at Capital One Arena.
