We all know Bryce Harper as the baseball mashing, annual MVP candidate for the Nationals?
But announcer of pregnancies?
Here's what happened.
A couple was traveling to West Palm Beach to watch the Nats play the Mets for their two-year anniversary. Needless to say Will, the husband, was quite excited.
Will's wife, Lauren, had recently found out she was pregnant, and she was looking for the right moment to tell her husband.
Will is a Bryce Harper super fan, so Lauren saw Tuesday's spring training game as the perfect opportunity.
While Will was busy watching warm-ups, Lauren managed to get the attention of manager Davey Martinez. She asked Martinez if somehow he could get Bryce Harper to break the news of her pregnancy to her husband. The Nats skipper said he'd see what he could do.
Fast forward to when the team is wrapping up warm-ups. Davey Martinez and Bryce Harper walk towards the couple.
While Will was distracted by getting an autograph from Harper, Lauren made her move.
She handed a sonogram picture of the baby to Davey Martinez, who discretely handed the photo to Bryce.
When Harper finished signing Will's bat, he told the father to be "Happy anniversary, and congratulations by the way."
Bryce then handed Will the sonogram.
This story is all kinds of awesome. We don't know the gender of the baby, but if it's a boy it's name needs to be Bryce. Right?
