Nickelodeon is bringing back Double Dare with 40 brand-new episodes.

Get ready for a whole lot of slime because Double Dare will soon be back on TV.

Nickelodeon announced Wednesday it's rebooting the classic kids' game show for 40 brand-new episodes this summer.

The original Double Dare ran from 1986-1993, making it Nickelodeon's longest running game show, and led to other versions including Super Sloppy Double Dare, Family Double Dare, and eventually Double Dare 2000.

The show featured two teams competing to win prizes by answering trivia questions, taking on messy physical challenges, and ultimately facing the obstacle course featuring the human hamster wheel, gigantic mouth and the Double Dare nose.

It's been nearly two decades since the last new episodes aired, but Nickelodeon hopes the reboot will give "a new generation of fans the chance to compete in the messiest and most physically challenging competition of their lives," according to the network's announcement.

Nickelodeon also recently announced plans to bring back the hit show Blue's Clues.

One thing missing from Wednesday's big announcement was any mention of original host Marc Summers, who tweeted out the press release with the comment "Isn't this interesting."

Nickelodeon is promising "appearances from blasts from the past and stars from today" so even if Summers isn't back as the host, it wouldn't be too surprising to have him make an appearance or two.
