Have you seen these faces?
It has been one week since three teenage girls vanished in Virginia, and officers with the Prince William County Police Department believe they could be in grave danger.
The FBI is involved because the search started crossing state lines.
Monday, an FBI spokesperson told WUSA 9 the three teens could be in D.C. or Maryland.
Police said the three missing young women were last seen in Bristow, Virginia, which is a small community about 30 miles outside of Washington, D.C. They were believed to have been traveling in a small SUV – something like a 2007/2011 Honda CRV.
A police spokesperson would not reveal precisely where teenagers were last seen or how the three know one another.
Ashley Lemus, Breonia Thomas, and Chamareya Wright were reported missing at around 2:30 a.m. last Sunday, November 12th. They were originally listed as “runaways.”
Last Friday, detectives elevated that status to “Missing and Endangered.”
The FBI is assisting the Prince William County Police Department in the investigation. An FBI spokesperson told WUSA 9 there is no indication that the disappearance is gang-related, but we’re told it’s unusual for the three to have vanished together without any contacting anyone else for about a week.
Monday, WUSA 9 learned neither of the three are enrolled in Prince William County Public Schools and that one of the three has been reported missing by our station in the past.
Lemus was featured last year in a WUSA 9 program that brings awareness to missing DMV children. It’s called the “Bring Them Home” campaign. Lemus was reported missing for about two months last year, and from the Gaithersburg, MD area.
A Montgomery County Public Schools Spokesperson tells WUSA 9 Lemus withdrew from Watkins Hill High School in 2016.
In a search for social media accounts, WUSA 9 found at least one belonging to one of the missing teens. It hasn’t been updated in at least a year.
Ashley Lemus was last seen wearing a Nike sweatshirt and gray leggings. She has a tattoo that reads “stay strong” on her chest and has other tattoos on her arms and wrists.
Breonia Thomas was last seen wearing a colorful romper and a purple bandana.
Chamareya Wright, who is the oldest in the bunch, had on a sweatshirt and leggings the last time she was spotted.
Police can’t offer any context around how the girls disappeared and why the department stressed that they firmly believe they could be in danger.
