1 dead after two-vehicle crash on I-66 in Virginia

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on I-66 westbound in Fairfax, Virginia early Thursday morning, Virginia State Police said.

FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) — One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on I-66 westbound in Fairfax, Virginia early Thursday morning, Virginia State Police said.

Around 3:50 a.m., a rear-end crash occurred on westbound I-66 between Route 123 and Route 50.

Police said 26-year-old Lesly R. Coronado of Falls Church Va. was traveling west on Interstate 66 when her car was rear-ended by a westbound 2015 Hyundai Elantra.

The trooper performed CPR on the scene. Coronado was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police said Coronado was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Hyndai, a 29-year-old woman, was not injured in the crash.

Charges are pending.

The crash did close I-66 westbound throughout the morning commute, but it has since reopened.
