Police search for suspect in Va. attempted abduction

Police are searching for a suspect in attempted abduction after a victim said the suspect grabbed her and tried to put her in his car in Arlington, Virginia.

ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) — Police are searching for a suspect in attempted abduction after a victim said the suspect grabbed her and tried to put her in his car in Arlington, Virginia.

Around 2:30 p.m. on April 1, police responded the 600 block of N. Oxford Street for a report of an assault.

According to police, the victim was walking in the area when the suspect called out to her. When she did not respond, police said the suspect grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her towards his vehicle, but she was able to break free.

The victim watched the victim until she entered her home. She called the police, but the suspect fled the scene prior to their arrival. Once officers arrived, they searched the area, but they were not able to locate the suspect. Police have increased patrols in the area.

The victim did not require medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a black male, with short dreads, possibly braids, with some orange, approximately 6’0, wearing a black shirt, light gray zip up hoodie and dark gray sweatpants. The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older, possibly late 1990’s or early 2000’s, model pick-up truck that was dark blue or black in color and looked “beat-up”.
