More than 60 restaurants in the D.C. area are joining Dining Out For Life, benefiting Food & Friends in April. During the annual fundraiser, a significant amount of proceeds will be donated to help those with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses.

After 30 years of serving the Washington community, more restaurants are joining the cause on April 12. Eateries will range from Hyattsville to Shirlington, and from Georgetown to Brookland.

The restaurants have pledged to contribute 25 percent to 110 percent of lunch and/or dinner proceeds to directly benefit Food & Friends’ programs and clients in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

“The restaurant community has long supported the work of Food & Friends and we’re incredibly grateful. The funds raised through Dining Out For Life® make it possible for us to serve thousands of meals each day to those living with the challenges of HIV/AIDS, cancer and other debilitating illnesses,” Food & Friends’ Executive Director Craig Shniderman said.

“It’s a fantastic night. With one great meal out with his or her friends, each diner is making a significant and lasting impact on their community members in greatest need,” he added.

Food & Friends is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization that provides home-delivered, medically-tailored meals and nutrition counseling to people with life-challenging illnesses in the DMV. Clients qualify for the free services based on health status and nutritional need.

Those who dine out on Thursday, April 12 will have a portion of their bill donated to Food & Friends.

Last year, the nonprofit organization raised more than $150,000 during the event.
