It’s time to dress-up your little one and enjoy the spookiest holiday of the year. Halloween is right around the corner and there’s an abundance of family-friendly events in and around DC for you and your family to enjoy:
1. Boo at the Zoo at the National Zoo
The National Zoo’s annual Boo at the Zoo is back. Kids can peruse over 40 treat stations as they get after-hours access to various exhibits and animal houses. There will also be live entertainment, education programs and a pumpkin-carving demonstration. Act fast--tickets are going fast.

2. Smithsonian Sleepover at the American History Museum: Halloween Special
Come in your costume and solve the mystery of the thief Miss Rose, who has stolen valuable treasures from the museum! Children will get to explore the museum after-hours, take part in craft projects, and have a sleepover in the museum.

3. Air and Scare at the Udvar-Hazy Center
Dress up and enjoy indoor trick-or-treating, spooky science demonstrations and crafting at the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va.

4. Fright Fest at Six Flags America
Fright Fest 2017 is already underway at Six Flags America. Amid the rides are several haunted houses, scare zones and, of course, zombies and ghouls.

5. Trick-or-Treat at Mount Vernon
How would George and Martha Washington have celebrated Halloween? Find out at Mount Vernon’s Trick-or-Treat event which includes a hayride, a scavenger hunt, Halloween crafting, 18th century dancing, and a costume parade.

6. Harbor Halloween at the National Harbor
The National Harbor will be hosting several free events to celebrate Halloween including trick-or-treating, a pumpkin carving contest, and a photo station. Hocus Pocus, a Halloween classic, will also play.

7. NSO Family Concert: Halloween Spooktacular at Kennedy Center
Get in the Halloween spirit with your favorite Halloween tunes. Families should arrive (in costume) an hour early for trick-or-treating and a musical instrument “petting zoo.”

8. Soul Strolls at the Congressional Cemetery
Interested in meeting some of the ghosts that live in the Congressional Cemetery? Go on a Soul Stroll, offered throughout October, to take a guided tour through the history of the cemetery--and who lives there now. Adult beverages are available for purchase.
