It can’t be fall without pumpkins and it can’t be Halloween without spooky jack-o-lanterns. While there are no pumpkin patches in D.C., there are a bunch in Maryland and Virginia within easy-driving distance!
1. Butler’s Orchard
It’s $3 to enter this farm and to wander around their picking fields, farm animals, nature trail and picnic area. For $12 on select days throughout October, your family can attend their Pumpkin Festival, where you can pick your own pumpkins, go on hayrides, explore a corn maze and more.

2. Queen Anne Farm
At Queen Anne Farm, you can take a tractor ride to the pumpkin patch and meet some animals along the way. If you’re in a rush to get pumpkins closer to Halloween, never fear: the farm will be offering pre-cleaned pumpkins on October 30 and 31.

3. Homestead Farm
You can get pumpkins and apples at this farm and can even take a hayride to the patch on weekends.

4. Burke Nursery and Garden Centre
All throughout October, the Burke Nursery and Garden Centre will be offering fun fall activities including hayrides, farm animals, a ghost tunnel and more. Prepare to be entertained while you go pumpkin picking.

5. Whitehall Farms, LLC
Every weekend in October is a Fall Fun Day at Whitehall Farms. For $12, you can take a wagon ride, get lost in a maze, and, of course, pick some pumpkins.

6. Montpelier Farms
At Montpelier Farms, the pumpkin party continues even after Halloween. Every weekend through November 5, you can attend their fall festival. Tickets are $12.

7. Clark’s Elioak Farm
This farm is more than just a pumpkin patch--it also has a theme park called the Enchanted Forest. For $7.50 on weekends and $6.00 on weekdays, you can enjoy the attractions, petting farm, maze, and the pumpkin patch.

8. Ticonderoga Farm
Stay warm with hot apple cider at Ticonderoga Farm as you explore their pumpkin patch. During their fall festival, admission is $10.95 on weekdays and $16.95 on weekends.

9. Hollins Farm
This four-generation family farm will not only allow you to pick your own pumpkin, but you can also pick up grass-fed natural Angus beef, hay, and other seasonal fruits and vegetables.

This farm has a Pokemon-themed 10-acre maze that you can wind through before picking your own pumpkin. On the weekends, there are also pig races.
