Nationals pitcher pays for shelter adoption fees, hopes to make room for displaced Houston animals

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - As DC shelters prepare for the arrivals of animals from the flooded streets of Houston following Hurricane Harvey, they are hoping area residents will help them make room for these new animals.

Washington Nationals all-star pitcher Max Scherzer and his wife Erica will cover the adoption fees for animals currently in the Humane Rescue Alliance's shelters through Sunday, Sept. 3.

Adoption centers will be open from 12 to 7 p.m. and all standard adoption procedures apply.

There are two locations:

  • 1201 New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20002
  • 71 Oglethorpe Street, NW, Washington, DC 20011
