(WUSA) -- This weekend, the Washington Humane Society will waive adoption fees will be waived on older and long-time pet residents at the facility.
WHS' Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Shain said in a press release on Wednesday, "During this especially busy spring 'baby animal season' that has filled our facilities with new residents, we have a number of pets who have simply been overlooked, especially our older pets, and they often make perfect laid-back companions for busy Washingtonians."
WHS invites you to its adoption centers at 7319 Georgia Avenue NW and 1201 New York Avenue NE to meet with adoptions counselors. If you decide to adopt a pet, you will receive a free starter bag of food, a goodie bag, a free post-adoption exam and 30 days of health insurance for your pet.
WHS will also host a Foster Cat Day at Petco Cleveland Park at 3503 Connecticut Avenue NW on May 19, from noon to 3 p.m., featuring fee-waived senior cats.
All animals the animals from WHS are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines, de-wormer, and flea/tick treatment.
