WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The book is called House of Black and White: My Life with and Search for Louise Johnson Morris. It's David Sherer's memoir of a white boy growing up in suburban Washington and the influence a black woman had on his life.
After 30 years, Sherer decided that he wanted to find his former housekeeper and child care provider, Louise Johnson Morris. He says she was a strong influence in his life. She left the family in 1981.
He talked to us about the life lessons did Mrs. Morris taught him, his quest to find her again and their reunion. See the video.
Sherer has a book signing event October 1st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 5706 Warwick Place in Chevy Chase, Md. The mayor of Somerset, Md., Jeffery Slavin, is hosting the event.
