Monika Samtani has been in the Washington, DC media industry as an anchor, reporter, and producer for over 20 years. She began her career in the early 90's on ABC radio stations MIX 107.3FM and WMAL-AM630, and later joined WUSA9's morning news team from 1997-2003 when she received Maryland's 'Achievement in Public Information' Award for her reporting during the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the DC Sniper attacks that paralyzed the community.

Currently Monika produces 'The Extra Mile' transportation series on WUSA9, covering major transportation news and top people in the industry. She is an activist in the community for increasing driver and pedestrian safety...in fact, lack of neighborhood sidewalks and easy access to public transportation are her pet peeves! Monika also freelances as a News Anchor for government agencies.

Through Monika's award-winning production company 'Ms. Media', she is a consultant on a World Bank 'Entertainment Education' (EE) project.  She is on the Executive Committee for the American Diabetes Association, and is the founder of 'Launch Network', an organization connecting DC's South Asian American Women & all women with an affinity to the Indian American community, while supporting worthy charitable causes.

Monika has travelled around the world, loves movies, reading, and tennis (go Djokovic!!). She is constantly inspired by the many new people she meets every day through her job, and feels lucky to be able to tell their stories.  Monika is a native Washingtonian, is married with three wonderful kids, and is thrilled to be part of the WUSA9 team.
