SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -- Montgomery County Fire Investigators are asking for help identifying the person responsible for the arson fire at a Silver Spring barber shop.
Fire & Rescue units responded to a call to the Ebony Unisex Barber shop at just after 2:30 a.m. on June 28. Fire investigators determined that the cause of the fire was arson using an accelerant. The fire caused about $100,000 damage to the structure and its contents.
Earlier in the morning of June 28, at around midnight, an unidentified male was seen smashing a hole in the front door of the barber shop. This is the reportedly the third time in recent weeks that the Ebony Unisex Barber has been the target of vandalism and/or arson.
The suspect is described by authorities as a black male, approximately 6 feet in height, weighing 200-220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and black shoes.
A neighboring air conditioning repair business was also damaged by the flames.
