A car drove into a crowd of protesters at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., this afternoon, the Associated Press reports.
Social media accounts of the incident say multiple people were hit and injured.
Throughout Saturday, white nationalists and counter-protesters have brawled in Charlottesville, the day of planned rally of pro-confederacy groups.
Earlier in the day, Twitter dispatches showed a violent scene with protesters wielding shields, sticks and flags in massive scuffles that left people bloodied. The rally was planned for noon, but police issued an order to disperse before it started.
There were also reports of urine being tossed at reporters and the air was said to be filled with pepper spray, mace and tear gas.
