Things to do in DC for Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial day weekend is upon us so make sure to have your plans ready to go! Here's some awesome things you can do all weekend.

1. Jazz in the Sculpture Garden

Kick off the summer with the annual "Jazz in the Sculpture Garden" series featuring  a performance by the United States Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz Band at 5 p.m on Friday, May 26th. 

2. The Washington Ballet at The Kennedy Center

DC's two leading artistic powerhouses - The Washington Ballet May 25 - 27th will premiere 3 brand new pieces and one world premiere ballet called "Frontier" all about ASTRONAUTS! Sounds pretty amazing.

3. National Memorial Day Concert

Sunday, May 28, 2017, 8 p.m. PBS sponsors a FREE concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. The concert features actors Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise, and other guest artists along with the National Symphony Orchestra
 
4. National Memorial Day Parade
 
The Monday Memorial Day parade of Marching Bands and Veterans units from all 50 states steps off at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Streets, NW and proceeds along Constitution Avenue, past the White House, ending at 17th Street!
 
5. Delaplane Strawberry Festival, VA
 
May 27-28, 2017, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sky Meadows State Park, Delaplane, VA. The annual festival includes live entertainment, children's games, pony rides, hayrides, a petting zoo, a 5K fun run, a raptor exhibit, antique cars, food, crafts and strawberries.
 
6. Concert at Wolf Trap National Park
 
The park for performing arts kicks off the summer season with a free performance by the U.S. Marine Band followed by fireworks. The Filene Center gates open at 6:30 p.m and make sure to get there early! 
 
7. Hawaiian Pig Roast & Kona Beer Party at The Brig Beer Garden
 
Sunday, May 28th at 12pm bring out your hula skirts! The Brig Beer Garden partnered with the folks at Kona Brewing Company to bring you a full-on-fun, Hawaiian Luau style pig roast & brew bash!
