For the Fiction Fanatic:

In the Midst of Winter by Isabel Allende

"It's a gorgeous story. It's about 3 different people in Brooklyn kind of thrown together by circumstance and as that story unfolds, we look back at their past in Chile, Guatemala and Brazil. There is just so much rich story-telling in it."

The Quantum Spy by David Ignatius

"For this novel I went with a local author. David Ignatius, most people know him from The Washington Post, but he is also a very accomplished author. What he has here is a Cyber Thriller. It's about the battle to become the first to invent a quantum computer and all the companies who are after it. So he is talking about the CIA and life in D.C. and they are on a hunt around the globe to deal with the spies who are after this American technology."

The Annotated African American Folktales by Henry Lois Gates Jr. & Maria Tatar

"I'm really excited to present this one. The first thing I wanted to say is that it's a beautiful book, just in it's own right. It collects together about 150 stories right through the African American diaspora.
