Father and son duo from Maryland hope to win big on Candy Crush

A local DMV Dad and son team are featured on the new CBS game show, Candy Crush. Candy Crush is hosted by Mario Lopez and literally brings the ever-so addicting mobile game to TV. The show has already set a Guinness Book of World Record too, for the largest touch-screen board ever.

But back to the local contestants. Kris and Caleb Wheeler from Bowie, MD are featured on the July, 16th episode of Candy Crush. Wheeler said the interview and casting process was not what he expected.

"It was a lot of interviewing on skype, phone calls and paperwork, lots of paperwork." Wheeler said.

The key to the father-son success on making it on a national TV show is simple, Wheeler says he's a great kid, we never argue. The duo call themselves the brains and the brawn, because they are both brainy and brawny. Wheeler is a software engineer and plays lots of sports.

Wheeler's 16-year-old son Caleb definitely has the brains, Caleb couldn't make the Great Day Washington interview because he voluntarily signed up for pre-calculus as a rising junior in high school, just so he can be in calculus as a junior.

Catch the next episode of Candy Crush featuring the Wheelers on Sunday, July 16th at 9 p.m. on WUSA9.
