Boozy drinks to keep you warm this winter

Cheers to a boozy holiday season! Talented mixologists share recipes for signature handcrafted cocktails and bar snacks from their popular eatery Bar Louie. The bar just opened a new location in Woodbridge, Virginia, if you don't want to make these on your own.  You can also try their other mixed drinks there (they have 35!

 

BOOZY DRINKS
Festivus Sangria 

Ingredients:

  • Deep Eddy cranberry vodka
  • Pure cane syrup
  • Lemon wedges (squeeze and drop)
  • Angostura Bitters
  • Angry Orchard
  • Soda water

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients in order to the mixing glass, except Angry Orchard and soda water
  2. Fill mixing glass with ice and shake
  3. Transfer into wine glass
  4. Top with angry orchard and soda water and dust with cinnamon

The New Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • Pure cane syrup
  • Angostura bitters
  • Bulleit Rye Bourbon
  • Cherry
  • Orange twist

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into mixing glass
  2. Fill 3/4 full with ice 
  3. Stir 30 times and strain over fresh ice
  4. Garnish with cherry and orange twist

The Clover Martini

Ingredients:

  • Courvoisier cognac
  • Makers Mark bourbon
  • Agave nectar
  • Lemon juice
  • Orange juice

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into mixing glass
  2. Fill mixing glass with ice
  3. Shake and strain into martini glass
  4. Garnish with orange twist 

BAR BITES

Spiked Bulleit Bourbon Burger

Ingredients:

  • Burger patty
  • Burger seasoning
  • Burger bun
  • Bulleit Bourbon sauce (combine favorite BBQ sauce with bacon bits and bourbon sauce) 
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Bacon strips
  • Cream cheese
  • Onion strings

Directions:

  1. Season burger patty and cook burger to temperature desired
  2. Toast burger bun
  3. Once burger is cooked to temperature desired, melt cheddar cheese on patty
  4. Build burger in this order: bottom bun, cream cheese, burger with melted cheddar cheese, bacon strips, bourbon sauce, onion strings, top bun
  5. Skewer to keep burger in place.

Loaded Tots

Ingredients:

  • Tater Tots
  • Queso Sauce
  • Bacon Bits
  • Jalapenos
  • Green Onions

Directions:

  1. Warm up tater tots and queso sauce according to directions
  2. Place tater tots on the bottom of the plate, smother in queso, top with bacon bits, jalapenos and green onions.

Verde Chicken Flatbread

Ingredients:

  • Flatbread – precooked
  • Salsa Verde
  • Shredded chicken
  • Jalapenos diced
  • Red Onion sliced
  • Pico de gallo
  • Queso Fresco crumbles
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped cilantro

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees
  2. Build the flatbread in the following order: salsa verde, shredded chicken (mix with a bit of salsa for an extra kick), diced jalapenos, red onions, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and shredded cheddar cheese
  3. Put in oven for roughly 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted
  4. Cut flatbread into 12 slices and garnish with cilantro.

 

Hummus Platter

 

Ingredients:

  • Hummus
  • Basil pesto
  • Tzatziki 
  • Pita bread
  • Cucumber
  • Carrot sticks
  • Lemon wedge
  • Parsley

Directions:

  1. Mix together basil pesto and hummus
  2. In chilled salad bowl, plate scoop of hummus, basil pesto hummus, and tzatziki in the middle of the plate
  3. Cut pita bread into 6 slices, cut cucumber into 6 pieces
  4. Around the outside edge of the bowl, plate the pita slices, cucumber slices, and carrot sticks
  5. Place lemon wedge in center of the plate and garnish with parsley.
