10 ways to celebrate Pride weekend in D.C.

The streets are alive with the sound of pride! Grab your friends and some rainbow-colored accessories and get ready to make some colorful memories.

1. Rally for transgender equality

Join members of the transgender community as well as advocates and allies as they rally for equal rights next to the Russell Senate building on June 9. The event will begin at 5:15 p.m. and will be sponsored by the National Center for Transgender Equality. 

2. Pride run 5K

Run for a cause! Hosted by DC Front Runners on June 9, the event will include beer for all runners at the finish line as well as a live DJ and entertainment. The race begins at 7 p.m. and starts at 1801 E. St. SE. 

3. Rainbow Resistance opening party

Capital Pride and BYT will host the annual opening party at Rainbow Warehouse in Ivy City at 9 p.m. on June 9. This year will feature live performances as well as multiple DJs. This Friday night bash has sold out for six years in a row! 

4. Capital Pride brunch

Kick off Saturday at the Showroom! Come for the "Crack of Noon" Full Brunch at 11:30 or the Liquid Brunch starting at 1. Both events will include bottomless champagne and mimosas! 1099 14th St. NW.

5. Free block party

This FREE event on 15th St. NW between P St. and Church St. will feature a beer garden, food and entertainment. Enjoy it from 3:30 p.m. til 10 p.m. 

6. Pride parade

This annual parade through Dupont and Logan Circles draws tens of thousands of participants every year from near and far. This year's 1.5 mile march will feature floats, politicians, entertainment and some furry friends! The parade starts at 4 p.m. at 22 & P Streets NW and will finish at 14th & R Streets NW.

7. RISE Afterhours 

The celebration continues at FLASH nightclub! At 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, join DJs Isaac Escalante and X Gonzalez for a different kind of early-bird special. 645 Florida Ave. NW

8.  The Equality March

This event seeks to unite all marginalized communities whose members have faced discrimination or exclusion based on gender, sexual orientation, race or religion. The march begins at 10 a.m. June 11 at I & 17th Streets NW.

9. Pride festival

Calling all ages! Sunday's pride festival includes live entertainment, food, drink and local shops and vendors. The event is free to all and will run from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m between 3rd and 7th Streets on Pennsylvania Ave. NW.

10. Pride concert

Wrap up the festivities at the Pride concert! Featuring Miley Cyrus, the performances will run from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Pennsylvania Ave. and 3rd, right in front of the U.S. Capitol. The party continues from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a free DJ at the Capitol Sunset Dance Party
