Amazing Race finalist Tara Carr talks before season finale

Virginia mom, Army veteran and Amazing Race finalist Major Tara Carr talks about the Amazing Race season finale.

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA9) - The Amazing Race reaches for the finish line Thursday night in its season finale.

Among the final three is Major Tara Carr, a local mom of four and Army veteran from Alexandria, Virginia.

Carr, a superfan of the Amazing Race since the very first episode, remembers buying her first TV and becoming hooked on the show.

“I tuned in everywhere I was assigned all over the world,” Carr said on Great Day Washington Thursday morning. “I would follow it, and I thought ‘I’m going to do that one day.’”

Carr said the race was harder than she expected, but her and partner Joey Covino managed to make it to the final three.

“There were days where we ran fifteen mile days,” Carr said. “Military experience came in handy.”

If Carr comes out the winner, she said she will put the million-dollar prize towards an investment plan for a college fund for her children.

The Amazing Race season finale airs Thursday night on WUSA9 at 10 p.m.
