WASHINGTON (WUSA) --- What's an Inaugural Ball without a stunning gown?
WUSA 9 got a sneak peak at some of the Red Carpet fashions for Saturday's Presidential Inauguration Luncheon and Fashion Show hosted by the California State Society.
The gowns are designed by students from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, FIDM.
Norine Fuller, Executive Director of FIDM, Washington, DC, is the host of the event. She says she is excited for an occasion to celebrate FDIM sponsors. Meanwhile, guests will be invited to make a personal commitment to volunteerism in honor of the coinciding National Day of Service.
Five ballroom-style gowns graced the red carpet and stage inside The Ritz-Carlton on 22nd Street NW.
The exquisite jewelry is also handmade by students. The pre-show is featuring just a few gowns of the many that will be on the runway at the Ritz-Carlton.
Kevan Hall, alumni of FIDM, oversees some of the designing students.
Hall is an A-List designer for celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Vanessa Williams. His design has also been worn by Michelle Obama.
Over 600 guests are expected to attend the event including California lawmakers, fashion and entertainment professionals.
