Wingmen Can Give Your Social Life A Lift
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA)--So, you're a man sitting at home, frustrated with your social skills and inability to a score a date. As a result you throw a frozen pizza in the oven and stay home, yet again, watching your favorite re-run.
If this sounds like you, a pair of self proclaimed pros are out to change your dull routine. Their names are Nick Notas and Thomas Edwards. They are professional wingmen. Translation: they teach men how to score big in social settings like bars.
"It becomes something where guys learn how to be comfortable in their own skin, and confident," says Nick Notas.
"There are a lot of guys who are looking for that edge when it comes to developing their social skills, says Thomas Edwards.
On this evening, it's Thayer Dennison who's looking to polish up his game with the help of the Wingmen.
"I've had maybe trouble cracking into the scene, and I think I recognize certain places where is sort of struggle," says Dennison.
The secret to the game is simple, say the Wingmen. It's all about improving body language.
"When a guy all of a sudden changes that and holds eye contact and smiles and looks happy results change right away," says Notas.
"At it's core, we're pretty simple people as humans, and I think because a lot of external factors we try to over complicated things way too much," says Edwards.
So with a brand new outlook and a Wingman by his side, the 24-year-old approaches a pair of women sitting together at the bar.
After a brief introduction, the conversation begins among the group. Thayer seems more confident. He makes eye contact and smiles.
There's small talk going on and even some humor.
Then, just before they leave to catch a basketball game, Thayer scores a phone number.
"I'm feeling really good," says Thayer.
Here are the top three ways to date smarter, according to the Wingmen:
Talk to more women, more often. There's no reason not to and it's the best way to improve your odds of finding someone. Confidence comes from experience and you'll only get there with practice. Challenge your comfort zone frequently.
The more chances you take, the more opportunities you'll have to make meaningful connections.
Take pride in your appearance. Learn the basics of dressing well; it doesn't take much effort and makes a huge difference. Throw on a fitted dress shirt, dark slim jeans, a nice pair of dress shoes, and even a blazer or tie. Always do a quick grooming session before you hit the town.
The way you look conveys a powerful message about who you are and the values you hold. Plus, when you look good, you feel good.
Have a great attitude. Too many guys look at meeting and dating women in negative light. Enjoy the excitement, nervousness, and ups and downs that it has to offer. That's what makes it fun in the first place.
Approach a girl with a smile and don't be afraid to say something silly. Speak passionately about your interests and listen to hers. Be playful and flirtatious to build the chemistry between you two. Positivity is contagious and wildly attractive.
