WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Dick Clark once said, "The three most important things that ever happened in the music industry are Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Chubby Checker." Well, we were fortunate to have one of them live and in person on our noon show on Tuesday.

Chubby Checker, who was born Ernest Evans, joined us to mark a special anniversary: the 50th anniversary of "The Twist" going number one on the charts for the second time.

For his work, Chubby Checker will be inducted into the Smithsonian Institute. The Twist was the number one song of the 1960s and the only song to be number one twice. It hit number one in 1960 and again in 1962. The Twist was Billboard's number one song in the world in its history.

Chubby Checker even busted out The Twist with 9NEWS NOW anchor JC Hayward. Click on the video for the full interview.

Chubby Checker will appear at The Hamilton in DC on Feb. 14 for a show that starts at 7:30 p.m. Click here for more information.
