Hostess is close to announcing that two investment firms plan to bid on giving the snack cakes a second life.
A so-called joint "stalking horse" bid would establish a floor for the bids to be more competitive.
But a judge will have to approve any final sale.
Hostess ended its business back in November, and has been trying to sell the brands ever since.
