WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Microsoft has finally set the price for its new Surface computer tablet at $499.00. 

The 32 gigabyte model puts it head-to-head with Apple's iPad.

The Surface tablet will run on Microsoft's latest mobile software.

It will be available in stores October 26th.
