Kristin Fisher joined the 9NEWS NOW team in January 2009 as a Digital Correspondent, just days before the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. She wakes up early to bring you "What's Hot on the Web" weekday mornings from 5 to 7 a.m. She also heads up the 9NEWS NOW Hero Central initiative. While she's shooting and reporting "Hero Central" stories in the field, Kristin lets you go behind-the-scenes by broadcasting the shoot live online.
Before coming to Washington, Kristin worked at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas. She spent two years in "Clinton Country" as a general assignment reporter with a penchant for politics. Kristin traveled across the country covering the 2008 presidential campaigns of both Hillary Clinton and Mike Huckabee. She also covered the state capitol for the 2007 legislative session.
In addition to politics, Kristin pioneered an interactive feature called "Choose Your News." Thousands of viewers voted daily on what story they wanted her to cover, and then they could watch how the story they chose was unfolding via live web cameras in her car, on her desk, and from her cell phone. During her time in Arkansas, Kristin also freelanced for Current TV and was selected to cover the 2008 New Hampshire Presidential Primary for the network's first live broadcast. She began her career as a reporter and weekend anchor at KJCT in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Kristin grew up in Houston, Texas as the daughter of two NASA astronauts. While she failed to inherit their math/science minds, she shares their desire to explore and explain our world. During college at Boston University, Kristin studied abroad in both London and Athens. She also spent a semester living outside on an Alaskan glacier with the National Outdoor Leadership School. Off the air, Kristin lives in Washington and enjoys traveling, training to climb mountains, and taking dance classes in DC.
