Due to high temperatures, Mayor Muriel Bowser has activated heat emergency plan for The District.

It will feel like 100 degrees Tuesday with near-record heat and higher humidity.

When the temperature or heat index reaches 95 degrees in the District, District Government activates cooling centers.

Officials urge residents and visitors to take extra steps to beat the heat by staying in the shade or air-conditioning, drinking plenty of water and visiting cooling centers.
