The Red Line was disrupted twice in just an hour Friday morning as area commuters were trying to get to work.

First, the service on the Red Line was suspended temporarily after a track problem at Medical Center around 8:30 a.m.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue PIO Pete Piringer said crews were responding to a possible ‘arcing insulator’ issue along the tracks between Medical Center and Grosvenor.

The Red Line began single-tracking between the two stops. WMATA urged passengers at Grosvenor and Medical Center to board all trains on the Shady Grove platform.

Full service was restored at 10:20 a.m.

Then, the service on the Red Line was temporarily suspended between Dupont Circle and Woodley Park due to a track problem. It is not yet clear what they may be.

Shuttles were requested in both instances.

Full service was restored to Dupont Circle around 10:45 a.m.

Residual delays are expected near Grosvenor and Dupont as trains get back to typical service.
