It’s the first Monday for Metro’s new round of reduced service and higher fares, where commuters can expect to wait on the platforms longer and pay more to improve safety.

Bottom line: Fewer trains will run, fares will increase, and overall, Metrorail stations will close earlier.

But for the weekend crowd, there is good news – stations will remain open past midnight Friday and Saturday until 1 a.m.

Fewer Trains:

Get ready for more crowded trains and waiting longer, even during rush hour.

  • Expect trains leaving every eight minutes from the ends of each line.
  • Service should be faster downtown, with trains arriving every 3-4 minutes.
  • Yellow Rush+ will no longer exist. All Yellow Line trains will run between Huntington and Mt Vernon Square during rush hour, and between Huntington and Fort Totten at other times.
