Metro Riders: We want to shadow you on your commute

Metro Riders: We need you. WUSA9 is beginning a project this month, shadowing folks across the DMV, as they go on their commute. We are looking for people across the area, who are willing to send us a 20-second "selfie-video" once per day for a month, to describe the conditions of the ride.

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA9) — Metro riders: We need your help!

WUSA9 is beginning a project this month, shadowing folks across the DMV, as they go on their commute. We are looking for people across the area, who are willing to send us a 20-second "selfie-video" once per day for a month, to describe the conditions of the ride.

We'll also ask them to keep track of their wait-times, so we can compile an average at the end of the month.

Our Central Question: Is the Metro as "bad" as folks make it seem?

People are constantly insulting the system, but we are wondering if this is because the big incidents are more memorable than the day-to-day commute, when things go well. For example, it's hard to forget the deadly smoke incident at L'Enfant Plaza, or the train derailment at East Falls Church, but when you get to work on time without any problems, that's hardly a story to remember.

WUSA9 is going into this project without expectations. At the end of the month, we may find that these commutes are as bad as many think. However, we may also find the opposite to be true. Only time will tell.

If you want to join the project, contact Reporter Evan Koslof at ekoslof@wusa9.com. You can also find him on Twitter at @ekoslof, and on Facebook at "Evan Koslof Reporting."
