Ashley Nee was born in Darnstown, Md. and grew up in Montgomery County. The first week of August she'll be far from home competing in the Rio Olympics.
She is part of the Canoe and Kayak team with her discipline being the one person kayak.
She tried unsuccessfully in 2008 and 2012 to make the Olympic team. The third time was the charm for Nee who is a big Terps fan.
She is five classes shy of a degree from the University of Maryland in kinesiology. Nee says she wants to help others like she's been helped through injury. But first things first, the Olympic games in Rio.
