Three students were transported to the hospital after a school bus was rear ended by a driver in Cecil County Tuesday morning.
All three children were on the school bus when the incident occurred, the students were between the ages of eight and ten.
Matthew Bailey, 30, of Elkton, was driving a blue Hyundai involved in the crash. Police are investigating the possibility of Bailey using a cell phone as a possible cause in this crash. Bailey was transported to Christiana Hospital.
Jennifer Gore, 24, the driver of the Cecil County school bus, was helping a student board the bus at the time of the crash. There were 27 students on board at the time.
According to the Maryland State Police, the school bus was parked on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes of Pulaski Highway, without flashing red signals activated.
Bailey was traveling westbound in lane two and for unknown reasons traveled off the road and struck the rear of the parked school bus.
Both lanes of Pulaski Highway were shut down for 45 minutes. One lane is now open again while crash cleanup continues. MDOT State Highway Administration personnel are assisting.
The crash investigation is continuing, and no charges have been filed yet.
