Police identify 14-year-old boy struck and killed by car in Bowie

The victim, 14-year-old Kamal Nashid, was hit as he was crossing the road at the intersection of Church Road and Fairview Vista Drive.

BOWIE, Md. — Police have identified the 14-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car in Bowie on Saturday.

The victim, 14-year-old Kamal Nashid, was hit as he was crossing the road at the intersection of Church Road and Fairview Vista Drive.

Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday officers were called to the intersection of Church Road and Fairview Vista Drive for the report of a person struck.

Officers found Nashid suffering from critical injuries, he was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after. 

Nashid was jogging when he ran into the crosswalk before traffic stopped, according to witnesses. Nashid crossed one lane of traffic in front of a red pickup truck and then was hit by a car in another lane. 

The driver of the car that hit Nashid remained on scene and is cooperating with police. 

Police would still like to talk to the driver of the red pickup truck to assist in their investigation.
