WUSA9 sports anchor Kristen Berset is celebrating a big milestone in her fight against breast cancer.

“Well, after 6 ½ weeks and 33 radiation treatments, I finally got to ring the bell today!!” she wrote on her Facebook page.

A video shows Kristen teary eyed but excited under the words “Ring In Hope.” She made the bell sing, signaling the end of her radiation treatment—and ended it with a little celebratory dance.

“Surprisingly the time flew by,” she said, crediting the nurses and doctors who helped her along the way. She also thanked her new husband for “being by my side every step of the way!”

This is Kristen’s second fight against breast cancer. She was first diagnosed in 2009 at the age of 27. She was declared cancer-free two years ago.

But just before Thanksgiving 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer again.

She stepped away from the WUSA9 sports desk in January begin her next fight.

“Thank you to everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers these past several months. The latest chapter is closed, for now some R&R to get back to feeling like myself again!!” KB wrote.

And the WUSA9 team can’t wait to see her smiling face and have her positive attitude in the newsroom again!
