A 17-year-old man has been arrested in the stabbings at Westfield Wheaton Mall that left two men dead.

Montgomery County Police announced Wednesday night that Angelo Lamont Jackson, of Montgomery Village, will be charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder.

Officers responded to the mall on Tuesday for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, officers found Angel Alfredo Pineda-Gomez, 24, and another man suffering with severe injuries. Both men died at the hospital. Police haven’t confirmed the other victim’s name.

Detectives took a still frame of the suspect from mall surveillance video and spread it to officers throughout the county. Multiple officers were able to identify Jackson from having prior interactions with him, police said.

Shortly before the deadly attack, police said mall surveillance video showed Jackson and the victims get into a physical fight. Shoppers at the mall broke up the altercation.

Police are still working to identify a reason behind the stabbings.

Police arrested Jackson Wednesday afternoon outside his home. He’s being held without bond.
