A man has been arrested and charged with murder after the body of 21-year-old woman was found behind a dumpster in Wheaton Friday, police said.
The woman, Dania Mendez de Guerra, was in a romantic relationship with her coworker, 47-year-old Elmer Campos-Martinez, of Rockville. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
De Guerra went missing on November 6th.
Police said she left her job at KFC just after midnight and she usually walked home from work but did not come back that night.
Police found her body behind a dumpster near a CVS in Wheaton.
Medical examiners ruled the death a homicide. De Guerra suffered from blunt force trauma and asphyxia.
Police said Campos-Martinez admitted to arguing with de Guerra outside of work. De Guerra wanted to break up with Campos-Martinez. He punched her three times, pushed her and hit her on the head then fled the scene. She was left unresponsive with her purse and cellphone missing.
