The family of a Loudoun County woman is speaking after she was killed Friday when a food truck collided with their family's station wagon.

Investigators say the driver of the food truck did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Evergreen Mills Road and Watson Road in Leesburg.

"Hopefully I can be 1/10th the parent she's been to her three kids," said Jim Gottiermeyer, Erin Kaplan's cousin.

Erin's three children, Emma, Sophie and Ben, along with the children's grandmother, Jeanne Lester, were in the car.

All four family members are still in the hospital at Inova Fairfax in Falls Church. Ben and Jeanne, the grandmother at last check were in critical condition.

The community in Loudoun County has rallied around the family. Strangers and friends have donated almost $70,000 so far towards the family.

The food truck is Dane's Great American Hamburger. Attempts to reach the owner have been unsuccessful. The Loudoun County Sheriff's office says the adult male driver and two juveniles in the food truck were all treated Friday and released with minor injuries.

Charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation and after the Sheriff's Office consults with the Commonwealth's Attorney.
