A Virginia pastor is preaching forgiveness after messages of hate were posted on the front of his church.
Last weekend someone posted flyers referencing the KKK and white supremacy on the front door of Greater Praise Ministries in Dumfries.
The pastor, William Thompson said this had brought the community together.
"If I could speak to the person that put that on the door I would tell him I love him and forgive him. That's the point of being a child of God, you have to learn to forgive," said Thompson.
Virginia Senator Tim Kaine met with members of the church Thursday.
"There are some bitter people that want to come and create trouble because they don't like seeing us moving on," said Kaine.
Charles Thompson is the pastor's grandson and member of the church. He said he's hopeful people will change the way they think.
"If we can love them and show them the respect everybody else gets, then we can change how they feel," he said.
Prince William County Police are working to find out who is responsible.
