Are Facebook pages—like ‘World of Free Stuff’ and ‘Women’s Corner’—holding sweepstakes to win a new car by liking, commenting or sharing real?
Sweepstakes pages, like these, exist to boost engagement and pop-up on more newsfeeds. It’s all to attract paying advertisers and build a brand. So we can Verify that neither of these pages seem to be legit, and even if they don’t ask for any sensitive material, you shouldn’t still shouldn’t comment or share, because then the page will continue to grow.

We found that World of Free Stuff is creating a whole network of other Facebook pages that host memes, quotes and prizes, and then sharing those posts on its page. Essentially building a newsfeed of fake pages to make itself appear legitimate.
There is no trace of World of Free Stuff ever announcing a prize winner.
Verify entered the sweepstakes too, following the instructions, and writing “me” below this truck post. Nothing happened.
It didn’t for four other sweepstakes entrants who told Verify they didn’t want to miss an opportunity on the chance it was real.
Using reverse Google image, Verify discovered the profile picture of Women’s Corner was a stock photo titled ‘American Women.’ Even though the page is a hub of freebies and memes, this video of the alleged pink Jeep being given away, received over thirty-two thousand shares.
Neither site was available for comment.
Facebook has rules for creating pages on their site and are trying to crack down on people using misleading information to artificially collect likes, followers or shares.
Facebook’s terms explicitly ban pages from asking people to share a promotion on their timeline to enter a raffle and require page admins to clarify that they are in no way associated with Facebook.
