One of the latest Hurricane Harvey conspiracy theories making the rounds on social media is a meme that links other major storms including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Gustav, Hurricane Issac making landfall on August 29 in the United States.

Some people sharing the post are now even predicting the next major catastrophic hurricane will be on August 29, 2023.

But according to data from the National Hurricane Center, this information being shared is not correct. Hurricane Katrina is the only storm that made landfall on August 29 in Louisiana.

The three other storms arrived in the United States on the following dates:

· Hurricane Gustav: September 1, 2008

· Hurricane Issac: August 28, 2012

· Hurricane Harvey: August 25, 2017

It is not surprising that the dates these major hurricanes occurred are close in range because the end of August and early September are peak hurricane season in the Atlantic.
