A DC high school student is under arrest for allegedly making threats on social media.
The 16-year-old Eastern high school student was arrested Monday morning after police stopped him from entering the school. That's according to students who said police also brought a canine to search the school.
Students say the boy appears to have black paint on his face on the social media postings.
The threat is being called an isolated incident, but some students complained of not being told what had happened.
Police say there may not have been a direct threat against the school, but that there were threats on social media.
D.C. Public Schools released the following statement:
"The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Following security and emergency protocols, DCPS immediately notified the Metropolitan Police Department. This threat was taken very seriously, was quickly resolved with minimal disruption, and is being treated as an isolated incident. We continue to work with proper authorities in monitoring these types of social media postings, and we will remain vigilant in maintaining student and staff safety."
No further information has been released at this time.
