Roughly a dozen cars stuck on side of GW Parkway after giant potholes flatten tires

We saw at least 12 cars waiting to be towed.

WASHINGTON — Thursday night after heavy rains throughout the DMV, giant potholes on the George Washington Parkway near the Beltway in the southbound lanes caused traffic and car damage.

WUSA9 observed at least 12 cars with their tires flattened, waiting to be towed.

Virginia State Police were also on the scene as wreckers rolled in to take cars away.

WUSA9’s crews observed many potholes in that direction of the roadway.

The National Park Service said they were en route to fix the biggest pothole as of about 10:30 p.m. It apparently developed throughout the day.
